Proteus Solutions Ltd, based in Cork, Ireland, formed over ten years ago to provide specialist Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Information Management consultancy, systems analysis and design, application software services and systems design for the Engineering, Local Government, Construction and Utility sectors in the UK and Ireland.

Proteus developed a vast amount of knowledge, building a reputation of quality and reliability. Working together with 1Spatial on a number of projects such as the Property Registration Authority of Ireland (along with IME UK) allowed both companies to combine the collective experience in large spatial database management and spatial data quality control, alongside skills in the access to such databases to stakeholders and customers across the web.

It was through this amalgamation of expertise on various projects that lead Proteus to join the 1Spatial Group in July 2007 to form 1Spatial Ireland, allowing Proteus customers direct access to 1Spatial’s knowledge base and component architectures to enhance their ability to audit, control and manage spatial data across the organisation.
