The aims of the conference were to:
The 1Spatial Conference 2008 took place from 29th April to 1st May at
the Radisson SAS Hotel, Stansted Airport, UK. With, once again,
primary support from Oracle Corporation, the 1Spatial Conference 2008 was the year's premier event focused on the transformation, management
and quality control of spatial data. Based around the theme of ‘1 Source of
Truth’ the conference will highlight the topics of Spatial Data Quality,
Spatial Data Infrastructures and CAD to GIS convergence.
1. Explore the issues of spatial data integration and re-purposing across organisations e.g. EU Directive on the Re-Use of Public Sector Information
2. Address the growing phenomenon of CAD and GIS convergence and the data management issues this situation presents
3. Discuss effective data access and sharing across the spatial data supply chain
4. Stimulate debate for delegates involved in establishing Spatial Data Infrastructures, such as preparing for INSPIRE implementation
5. Provide a forum for special interest groups across the Spatial Data Industry to meet and debate focused issues
6. Present delegates with an insight into all aspects of spatial data management and current best practices, including updates on issues such as Open Source and the work of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)
The 1Spatial Conference was open to anyone interested in managing spatial data effectively, not just 1Spatial customers and partners. It offered the chance to learn from industry experts and leading practitioners from the mainstream Information Technologies and Open Standards communities, as well as providing excellent networking opportunities. Whatever your role from Chief Executives and Directors, through to expert practitioners and programmers, this conference provided the chance to learn more about the issues of data management and data quality control across the spatial data supply chain. It gave insight into more effective and efficient use of spatial data throughout your organisation and as part of any activity to build spatial data infrastructures.
Once again the 1Spatial Conference hosted the annual 1Spatial Community meeting. This group comprises 1Spatial users, practitioners and partner organisations bonded not only though their relationship with 1Spatial, but also through their commitment to interoperable, standards-based, spatial data management.
