Extracting knowledge from Corporate Information in Geospatially-aware Enterprise Environments

Abstract:
Having striven to achieve Operational Excellence by implementing 'joined-up' systems to support business processes, organisations are now looking to achieve Management Excellence by implementing 'joined up' Business Intelligence systems to improve visibility and management control of those business processes. Critical to achieving this aim is the ability to provide a single view of the business by integrating information from across the enterprise to fully understand their operations in a complex, dynamic, and information-intensive world. Analytics helps organisations gain insight into operations, their customers, and their competitors and turn it into competitive advantage. Corporate systems are containing ever-increasing amounts of geospatial data and as such organizations want more visual representations of analytic information, particularly when integrating geographic information with other data, both structured and unstructured. It is said a picture paints a thousand words. This talk illustrates how BI technologies are incorporating location technologies and map displays to enhance their analytic, visualization and drill-down capabilities to help business users get better insight faster for improved decision making. This talk highlights how decision makers in various industries are relying on these technologies, and includes some interesting case studies.
