Becker Geomatics collect, provide and manage spatial data that can be used as a basis for design and construction. They needed to replace their existing data capture systems, and, after evaluating several solutions first hand, were impressed by a demonstration from Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) showing Radius Mobile in action.

Traditional methods of data capture in the field often meant that basic survey data is captured in a RAW format, using non-graphical devices. This RAW data was then returned to an office environment for post processing and graphical edit/attribution.  One drawback was that quite often; a surveyor might miss something on the first site visit, and have to make a costly second visit.

As part of the Radius Suite, Radius Mobile allows the user to update their spatial data directly and perform survey construction and calculations in real time, enabling a ‘finish in the field’ approach.

Becker Geomatics discovered that Radius Mobile offers the most cost-effective and efficient method of data capture and field input directly into a database. They have purchased Radius Mobile with FME, meaning that they can work natively in a variety of industry-standard file formats and use its capabilities and flexibility for new and varied projects.

Becker Geomatics will also take advantage of fully integrating their map maintenance with the surveying process, and achieve instant quality assurance on geometry and spatial data attributes.
