1Spatial worked with East Ayrshire Council to ensure that their corporate geographic information systems were brought in line with Ordnance Survey Great Britain’s (OSGB) maps, in accordance with their PAI (Positional Accuracy Improvement) programme.

The overall project aim was to manage this operation whilst maintaining existing services. East Ayrshire was impressed with the automated data cleaning facilities offered by 1Spatial, which included both geometric and topological enhancements through Radius Topology. 1Spatial’s ability to provide a PAI solution that offers not only shifting techniques, but that also addresses the fundamental issue of data quality was a key factor in East Ayrshire’s decision. The Council selected 1Spatial’s service as an alternative to investing in additional software and resources or offshore services, thus ensuring high quality output, shorter project timescales and minimal interference with the day-to-day running of the department.

East Ayrshire’s data now lines up with Ordnance Survey base reference mapping. This has effectively future-proofed their data, providing a robust framework for their impending migration to Ordnance Survey's OS MasterMap®.

Following the PAI project, 1Spatial assisted East Ayrshire’s Planning, Development and Building Standards division in providing public access to planning information through their website.
